Bio.
Born in British Colombia, Canada in 1977, Luc Bouchard a.k.a. Luke, was somewhat of a young nomad due to his father’s military career. His travels immediately immersed him in a multitude of cultures throughout his child hood. Not knowing where to call home and not having strong sense of belonging, the search for his identity is clearly shown in his very eclectic body of work.
Following a college degree in Illustration & Design at Montreal’s Dawson College , he immediately pursues his dream of being a full-time artist. Having underestimated the difficulties of the industry and the hardships of entrepreneurship, he finds work in an automobile paint shop, as well as various paint shops that offered artistic painting services. All while working jobs, Luke keeps creating and experimenting with various mediums and finds time to have nearly 50 solo shows throughout the years. Making sales but not enough to live well, it was mostly people’s positive reactions and comments that kept him going during earlier hard times. Throughout time, he meets key people who later gave him life changing opportunities as an artist.
In 2014 Luke’s life takes a major turn. He is implicated in a tragic accident that leaves him with major lower back issues. Eventually losing all function in his legs and suffering from excruciating pain, he undergoes neurosurgery.
Luke is now in The Laurentians, Quebec, Canada, where he continues to be an active artist.
